A Short Film

This project was written and developed while I was completing a diploma of Film and TV at Swinburne University in Melbourne. Then, I took on the role of director and producer for the project. We raised $5000+ through crowdfunding and fundraising events. Notably, El Vance the cinematographer organised a fundraising concert in Melbourne.

We were honoured to receive partial sponsorship from Panavision, so we were able to shoot the whole project on an Arri Alexa Mini combined with Cooke XTAL Anamorphics lenses.

Production started on the 23rd of September, check out the Behind The Scenes :

Blair’s sister Clara couldn’t take care of her daughter when she gave birth 18 years ago. It was decided to put the child up for adoption. In France, a mother can give birth anonymously, delivering a nameless child to the State. She gives up any right to name the child or have any contact with them. There is, however, the possibility of leaving contact information in the adoption documents which the child will gain access to when they turn 18.

Today, Blair’s niece turns 18 years old. All of the sudden, Blair is transported back through past family trauma as she struggles to come to term with her powerlessness in the situation. Isolated and desperate, Blair awaits for a call that might never come, spiralling into crippling anxiety.
